I have children...what do I do with them during worship?
At Saint Matthew's, we welcome children in worship. We recognize their wiggles and whispers as a part of the joy of the Lord that is in them. We know that kids have good days and bad days, but so do adults, so bring your kids to worship, and know that they are fully welcome there! We offer a time during Sunday worship services called "Kids Talk" that is just for them, and have bags available at the back of the sanctuary filled with new toys to help them have fun in worship! If your child is struggling to sit still, and needs to move around, there is a nursery space available right outside the sanctuary.
Who is welcome to receive communion at Saint Matthew's?
Christ is the host of this table. All baptized Christians who believe that the body and blood of Christ is present for us in this meal and who desire his gifts of forgiveness, life, and salvation are welcome to commune. We have first communion class for 5th graders and older children who have not yet received instruction each spring. Children younger than 5th grade who have not yet received Holy Communion instruction are welcome to come forward for a blessing.
I am interested in Baptism at Saint Matthew's. What do I need to do?
We welcome all to the baptism font at Saint Matthew's! – both young and old, both members and non-members. At Saint Matthew's, baptisms happen in worship, both Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. In preparation for baptism, we ask that you – the baptism family, and (if available) your sponsors - meet with Pastor to go over the service and talk about the promises you will be making at the font. For more information and to schedule your baptism, please contact the church office at 701-599-2081
